Common Blue
By far our most widespread blue butterfly which is common throughout much of Britain and Ireland. The males are a brilliant, eye-catching blue while females are usually brown with a touch of deep violet-blue near the wing base.
Wingspan: 29-38mm
On the wing: Early May to mid-October
Foodplant: Usually Common Bird's-foot-trefoil but also other common trefoils
